Make Cana work your way.
Mods are add-ons for Cana Desktop. Install a `.canaext` file by dragging it in, choose one from the marketplace, or build your own. A mod can provide a Script, Extension or Theme; extensions can add Pages and Cana tools to the app.
Script, Extension or Theme
Scripts run in the background, Extensions add features, and Themes change the look. One package can include all three.
Pages and Cana tools
Installed extensions can add Pages to Cana and built-in-style Cana tools your agents can use.
Choose what wins
Priority orders mods when they change the same thing: the top mod wins replace/theme conflicts.
Reviewed before listing
Organisation and invite-link sharing is immediate; a public marketplace listing needs Cana moderator approval.
Mods
Built-in example: Cana Ship
Cana Ship comes with Cana Desktop. Ask a chat to build an app and Cana Ship gives it a website, sign-in for its visitors and a database, then publishes it free at its own address on ship.cana.build.
- Website, visitor sign-in and a database
- Published at <app>.ship.cana.build
- Roll back to an earlier version
- Can be switched off, but not uninstalled
Mods
Build, install, control
A mod is a single `.canaext` package built with the Cana Mods SDK. Drop it onto the Mods screen or choose it from your computer, inspect it, choose its priority, then install it. Turn scripts on or off, restart them, or remove the mod from Installed at any time.
- Installed lists mods, their Pages and their Cana tools
- Marketplace has Browse, My organisation, My uploads and Publish
- Priority is a reorderable override stack
- Uninstall removes scripts, pages, themes, settings and stored data

Good questions.
Where do mods run?
In Cana Desktop. You can browse the marketplace on the web, but mods are installed and run in the desktop app.
Can anyone publish to the public marketplace?
Anyone can upload a mod. Sharing with your organisation or by invite link is instant; public listings are reviewed by the Cana team first.
How do I get started with Mods?
Start a Cana chat, then open Mods from the Platform area when it fits the work you need to do.
How do I control what an agent can do?
Choose the permission level that fits the task: Ask, Accept Edits, Research and Plan, or Bypass All.
Can I connect tools to this work?
Cana can use connected apps and remote MCP servers when you have connected and allowed those tools.
Better together.
